We cordially invite you to read the November Wiadomości Uniwersyteckie, which includes, among others: conversation with Dr. Magdalena Suchora and Dr. Magdalena Mizerska-Kowalska about their research internships at the University of Orléans, as part of the "Athena Visiting Researchers Program". It is important to emphasise that during her research internships, Dr Magdalena Suchora (Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography UMCS) carried out the project "Synergy of palaeoecological and geochemical approach in tracking selected anthropogenic pollutions and their ecosystem response in sedimentary archive of Belieu Pond", related to the analysis of the impact of anthropogenic pollutions (i.e. heavy metals, antibiotics) on the ecosystem of a small reservoir, the Belieu Pond, located within the suburban catchment of the Egoutier stream near Orléans, which has been monitored in detail for several years. This was made possible by analyses of reservoir sediments, which represent a 250-year archive of environmental change. In her research, Dr M. Suchora consulted on the indicator significance of the remains of organisms contained in the sediment (in particular zooplankton). During her research, she collaborated with Dr Anaëlle Simonneau of ISTO (Institut des Sciences de la Terre d'Orléans), who specialises in geochemical analyses.
