Maciej Cieciora, a first-year second-degree student of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, was among the nominees for this year's "Pro Juvenes" award granted by the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland in the "Socially Committed Student" category. The competition winners will be selected based on online voting, which will last until 14th November.
The "Pro Juvenes" competition is an initiative organized by the Students' Parliament of the Republic of Poland since 2013. The plebiscite aims to distinguish and reward the most committed students and institutions and select the best initiatives supporting the student community. This year, in the "Socially Involved Student" category, Maciej Cieciora was nominated - a 1st-year 2nd-degree student of International Relations at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
Maciej Cieciora is a 22-year-old student who actively participates in the life of our Alma Mater. His activities for the university began with his membership in the Student Journalism Club, which he co-founded for over two years. For almost a year, he was the Chairman of the Promotion and Marketing Committee in the University Board of the Students' Self-Government of UMCS. There, together with his friends, he acted for the benefit of the academic community. In the last year, Maciej Cieciora conducted webinars for candidates for studies, in which he presented the education offer proposed by the university for Polish and international students. He also coordinated activities related to organising events on a national scale, including Congress of the Forum of Polish Universities, the Final of the project "Youth in the Labor Market", or the National Forum of Student Culture. In addition, he cooperates with academic units such as the Academic Centre of Culture and Media UMCS "Chatka Żaka" and the Promotion Centre UMCS.
Maciej Cieciora, from the beginning of his activity in the student government, selflessly helps international students who spent their time in dormitories during the pandemic. This is one of the reasons why he chose another second-cycle degree in International Relations to study with a group of international students from all over the world. Additionally, with Dr Ewelina Panas, the UMCS chancellor's representative for the internationalization of education, he co-implements projects in the academic environment for international students from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.
