Please be advised that the authorities of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin express strong opposition to any manifestations of intolerance, aversion or hostility directed against people of other national, ethnic or racial origin.
We consider the Internet entry posted by dr. hab. Mirosław Szumiło, prof of the universities as unacceptable and negatively influencing the image of the University. The undisputed, traditional academic value is tolerance and respect for other nations and cultures. We express this by directing the didactic and research offer to international students and scientists who at UMCS constitute one of the largest communities in Poland. The private opinions of one of over 2,800 university employees cannot be equated with the position of the University, are strongly harmful to the entire academic community and contradict the values passed on to generations of students and doctoral students.
Rector of UMCS, Professor dr hab. Radosław Dobrowolski will immediately address dr. hab. Mirosław Szumiła, prof. of the universities for an immediate explanation of the situation.
Sincerely
The Council of UMCS Rectors
