On 20th September of this year, we cordially invite you to the premiere of the documentary "The Collection" - about old prints from Lublin, directed by Grażyna Stankiewicz, combined with the premiere of the album "Old Lublin Prints at the Library of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin" edited by Dr Marta Puszka. The event will take place in the large auditorium of ACKiM Chatka Żaka at 3 pm.
The documentary form presents about 60 old prints published in the 17th and 18th centuries in Lublin outbuildings, owned by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Library. The document will also tell about the role of Fr. Dominicans and Jesuits in the history of printing in Lublin. After the premiere, the film will be posted on the website https://www.festiwal.lublin.pl/ and made available to a broad audience. The transcription in English included with the film will make the exciting and inspiring history of Lublin old prints heard by viewers outside Poland.
In addition to the documentary film, in order to even better disseminate, promote and popularise science and research in society, the album "Old prints of Lublin in the Library of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin" was created, edited by Dr Marta Puszka - curator of the Special Collections Department of the Maria University Library Curie-Skłodowska. The presented album presents old prints from Lublin (about 60 items) from the collections of the Maria-Curie-Skłodowska University Library in Lublin. The album was published in the number of approx—Two hundred copies by the Publishing House of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (2021). Most of the copies will be offered free of charge to selected libraries and institutions from all over the country. In addition, the item will be placed in an electronic version in the Digital Library of UMCS and the digital National Library of POLONA, while the rest will be given to the participants of the event.
There is a reservation for participation and a limit of 100 places for the event. One participant may reserve a maximum of 5 places.
